This selection is an informational text about the steps and jobs involved in putting on a play. .
Step 2: GO READ THE STORY! :)
Step 3: Go through the Lesson with your group: (you don't have to write the questions!)
1. On Page 4: Look at the word playwright in the second
sentence. The wright in playwright is not a different
spelling of write. It’s a separate word that means “maker.” What do you think a
playwright does?
2. What are some of the differences between the way a script
and a story are written?
3. On page 8: Read the second-to-last sentence. If you are immersed in something, you give it your full attention. What problems could occur if an actor were not immersed in his or her role?.
4. On page 9: Check out the term "technical rehearsal" in the second
paragraph. Technical things are practical or mechanical. In a
play, one technical matter is the lighting. Which of these would be
considered a technical matter: a)the use of microphones or b.)the way an actor says a certain
line?
5. What are some other technical matters involved in putting on a play?
